Anxiety attacks during menopause

Let us talk about my anxiety attacks during menopause. These attacks were mostly at nights, except for two, the very public one at the hair salon and one on the train on my way home.

I have been riding the DC metro without incidents for years. Except this day while on the train suddenly the darkness of the tunnels bothered me so much that I wanted off the train immediately. I started praying which is what I did at home during attacks.

Anxiety attacks come on without notice, no time to prepare for the nervous chaos that is about to take over your life to disrupt your sleep and schedule. There have been times when I could not take a shower or use the bathroom, because I was too anxious to be in a small space. I would pray and talk myself into calming down, when the calmness came and I was finally able to go into the bathroom, the door had to remain open for a quick shower.

This caused me to be tired and late for work many mornings. The sleepless nights and the up and down stairs, running around the house, were exhausting.

Please share your story by adding to the conversation, we need to hear from you because we are in it together.
